Detroit Defense Awarded Four-Year Army IDIQ Contract With a $49.9 Million Ceiling to Integrate, Field, and Sustain DIGS and Digital Logbook
DETROIT, November 2, 2026 — Detroit Defense was awarded a four-year indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract, with a ceiling of $49.9 million, to support the U.S. Army in developing, integrating, fielding, and sustaining the Army’s Data Integration for Ground Systems (DIGS) and Digital Logbook (DLB) capabilities. Two task orders totaling $8 million were issued at award, and a separate $1.6 million order will put DIGS on Army watercraft.
The contract was awarded by Army Contracting Command–Detroit Arsenal through a competitive Commercial Solutions Opening (CSO) and runs through September 2030. It covers continuous DLB software sustainment and DIGS and DLB integration on new and legacy platforms within the Combat Capabilities Development Command (DEVCOM) Ground Vehicle Systems Center (GVSC) Software Engineering Center (SEC) in Warren, Michigan, and unit fieldings to CONUS and OCONUS locations that include kitting, installation, New Equipment Training, and Field Service Representative support.

DIGS and DLB replace paper-based and error-prone maintenance processes with a single complete and validated digital workflow. Maintainers use ruggedized tablets to run diagnostics, access Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETM), and connect to the Global Combat Support System–Army (GCSS-Army), and the system generates DA Form 5988-E entries directly from vehicle sensor data. The result is less manual data entry and more accurate maintenance records that shorten the timeline between ordering and receiving parts, and that give commanders a clearer picture of what is ready to fight.
DIGS and DLB are already fielded and proven, and this contract is built to take them across the force. Self-propelled howitzers come first, with a repeatable process under the CSO for adding whatever combat or tactical platforms the Army designates next. The same foundational DIGS data will feed predictive maintenance and fleet-readiness analytics apps that Detroit Defense is extending with the 1st Cavalry Division under its recent Army Applications Laboratory predictive sustainment award.
The $8.06 million of initial task orders fund the first increment of work under the CSO: DIGS and DLB engineering, test, and sustainment support within the GVSC SEC, and the fielding of DIGS to more than 20 self-propelled howitzer battalions. Detroit Defense will configure and kit the systems at its Sterling Heights, Michigan, facility, then install, train, and support them at each unit.
Separately, AR1, a joint venture of Detroit Defense and ACE Electronics, received a $1.66 million task order under the Defense Logistics Agency’s Gateway to Readiness contract to deliver DIGS sets to CONUS and OCONUS locations in 2027 for Product Manager Army Watercraft Systems, including Landing Craft Utility (LCU) and Logistic Support Vessels (LSV), Modular Causeway Systems (MCS), and the Maneuver Support Vessel-Light (MSV-L). The watercraft DIGS effort will include instructor training and technical manual development, while also introducing a new compact charging case for the MSV-L.
“These awards move DIGS and Digital Logbook from proven capability to scaled fielding across Army artillery and watercraft formations,” said Nathan Clark, Senior Vice President of Mission Systems. “When a maintainer pulls up a 5988-E that filled itself in from the vehicle instead of a clipboard, that is accurate data reaching the commander without anyone retyping it. More equipment stays ready, and commanders know what they have. We’re proud to continue building this capability with GVSC and the program offices that depend on it.”
Detroit Defense is the Army’s partner under this contract for DIGS and DLB development, integration, fielding, and sustainment. The company works alongside GVSC engineers in the SEC, and all software created under the contract is delivered to the Army with Government Purpose Rights.
